I like being the person people come to when they need clarity, straight answers or reassurance. There’s something pretty special about watching someone achieve the things they’ve been working towards for years.

What makes this role both challenging and fulfilling is the responsibility you carry. Being there during difficult periods in markets, through the GFC and the pandemic, having tough conversations about staying the course, sticking to the plan, and adjusting where needed. Being able to provide that peace of mind and clarity about their positions and plans, then seeing them come through these periods even stronger and continuing on to achieve their goals.

I started in this industry in January 2008, just after Black Monday. Talk about trial by fire. I quickly learned the value of resilience, strong mentorship, and the power of meaningful client relationships.

My approach is built on three core principles: Listen, Guide, and Serve. Leadership in financial advice isn’t about telling people what to do. It’s about leading by example, empowering clients to take control of their financial future, and celebrating their milestones along the way.

My personal mantra is: “Keep pushing, focus on what you can control, and keep at it.” And, I also like Carl Richards’ quote, “In the end, financial decisions aren’t about getting rich. They’re about getting what you want – getting happy.”

I’m passionate about making financial advice more accessible, advocating for the growth of the profession, and making sure Australians have the guidance they need to secure their financial wellbeing.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me surfing, in the gym or at my sons’ footy games. I follow the Gold Coast Suns and the Broncos, and weekends are mostly time with my wife Kate, the boys, family and friends. I play the guitar and piano, and I enjoy cooking – in particular Low and Slow, pizza and Asian food.
