Centaur Financial Services Investment Committee Gold Coast

Media Release: Darren Howlin to join Australian Advice Network Asset Management as Independent investment committee member

Centaur Financial Services, as a foundation member of the Australian Advice Network, the Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) in which Centaur operates under, is proud to advise we have grown our investment committee team under AAN Asset Management.

AAN Asset Management (AANAM), the investment advice subsidiary of Australian Advice Network Pty Ltd (AAN), has grown rapidly since its introduction in January 2016.  The AAN Models now manage almost $400 Million of our client’s money.

The existing investment committee, made up of senior practitioners and directors within the license – including AFA Adviser of the Year Hugh Robertson, has always sourced input from external advisers however; these external advisers did not have designated roles or voting rights and merely provided investment insights.

The growth in the model management has led to a strategic review of the make-up of the committee and after interviewing several external consultants, AANAM has appointed Research-IP’s, Darren Howlin to the committee.

Research IP PTY LTD is a privately owned research group with interests in Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia.

Darren brings over 20 Years of investment experience to the group and has held research roles in large licensees as well as Lonsec Research and the New Zealand Stock Exchange.  Recently he has provided consultancy services to a number of global multi manager fund managers and also works with a number of Australian advice practices.

Darren’s industry relevant qualifications include MBA – Finance, Grad Dip Applied Finance and Diploma in Financial Planning.

Darren’s role will focus on filtering the investment universe for AANAM and providing recommendations on the licenses Approved Product List (APL) as well management selection, strategic asset allocations and structural variations in the models.

Troy Theobald, Chairperson of the AANAM Investment Committee, was very pleased to be able to make this announcement after concluding a national search.  ‘Darren brings a range of skills and tools to AAN Asset Management that can improve on our processes and methodology. He understands the investment philosophy that frames our decisions and has explored options that are difficult to access without the experience he brings to the table.  I know I can speak for the whole committee when I say we are really looking forward to the rigour that Research IP will provide and having them to challenge our thinking’.

Darren was formally appointed. April 5th, 2019.
